About these waters

Eight miles south of Bishop, Keough's has run its natural hot water into big pools since 1919 — the largest natural hot-springs pool in the Eastern Sierra, cooled by a waterfall feature, plus a dedicated 104-degree soaking pool. The family-friendly grounds include a snack bar, picnic area, massage, gift shop, and RV and tent-cabin camping. Day use is walk-in and affordable, with hours varying seasonally and the property closed on Tuesdays.

Good to know

  • Listing researched October 2026 — prices and hours change, always confirm with the spring before visiting.
  • Hydrate between soaks and limit hot soaks to 15–20 minutes — mineral water dehydrates fast.
  • Wild springs run on the honor system: pack out everything, leave the pool cleaner than you found it.

Keough's Hot Springs: FAQs

Do I need to book Keough's Hot Springs in advance?

For day-use admission, popular resorts sell out on weekends — if the official site offers reservations, book ahead. Weekday visits are usually easier as walk-ins.

Are kids welcome at Keough's Hot Springs?

Many developed springs welcome families, but age rules, family hours, and adults-only pools vary by property. Check the official site for the current policy before visiting with children.

How long should I soak at Keough's Hot Springs?

Start with 15–20 minutes, then cool off and hydrate before going back in. Hot mineral water dehydrates you faster than you expect — drink water between soaks and don't push through dizziness.
