About these waters

Founded in the 1860s and fed by four on-site geysers, Indian Springs is Calistoga's grand old mineral-water resort. Its centerpiece is a large Olympic-style geothermal pool, complemented by volcanic-ash mud baths, a full spa, and the Sam's Social Club restaurant set among palms and olive trees. Day visitors can use the pools only by booking a spa treatment and adding a limited day-use pass, which is unavailable on Saturdays.

Good to know

  • Listing researched October 2026 — prices and hours change, always confirm with the spring before visiting.
  • Hydrate between soaks and limit hot soaks to 15–20 minutes — mineral water dehydrates fast.
  • Wild springs run on the honor system: pack out everything, leave the pool cleaner than you found it.

Indian Springs: FAQs

Do I need to book Indian Springs in advance?

For day-use admission, popular resorts sell out on weekends — if the official site offers reservations, book ahead. Weekday visits are usually easier as walk-ins.

Are kids welcome at Indian Springs?

Many developed springs welcome families, but age rules, family hours, and adults-only pools vary by property. Check the official site for the current policy before visiting with children.

How long should I soak at Indian Springs?

Start with 15–20 minutes, then cool off and hydrate before going back in. Hot mineral water dehydrates you faster than you expect — drink water between soaks and don't push through dizziness.
